A unique legacy
The Lohri family is the 16th generation of goldsmiths to thrive in the oldest house of goldsmiths in the world located in Zug, a city with a long-standing tradition of jewellery. They contribute to this heritage by dedicating their lives to understanding jewellery in its essence.

The oldest house of goldsmiths in the world
Unique architecture
The striking arches on the ground floor of the Lohri House date back to when the Neugasse was built at the beginning of the 16th century. In 2016, the house was reopened after extensive interior and exterior renovations in collaboration with the commission of monument preservation. The Empire style of 1806 was chosen for the restoration - an architectural style that is extremely rare in Switzerland. Today, the showroom on the ground floor has a select range of watches and jewellery from world-renowned manufacturers.

On the first floor, the rooms in a breathtaking Empire style with fine Grisaille paintings on the ceiling are the backdrop for a world of superlative jewellery. Here, you will find unique pieces that each have their own history as part of our Lohri Unique Vintage Jewels collection. A private jewellery collection that is unique in the world also invites you to marvel at it; An original ring from the James Bond film «On Her Majesty’s Secret Service», a medallion from Empress Sissi, or «Ruby Lips» by Salvador Dali – let yourself be amazed.

The distinctive original ring from the James Bond film “On Her Majesty's Secret Service” can be admired in the private Lohri collection. We invite you to discover Bond girl “Tracy’s” wedding ring. Only once in film history did James Bond get married.

The second floor of the Lohri House is entirely dedicated to love. A romantic dream world with golden chandeliers, finely-patterned wallpaper, delicate floral arches and exquisite furnishings. Here you will find breathtaking engagement rings and wedding rings – all made in our in-house workshop. Let us immortalize your promise of love and your individual jewellery dreams in gold.

Restoration true to the original
For the extensive renovation and restoration of the house, Karl Amade Spillmann's drawings and motifs were chosen as reference. Spillmann is the goldsmith who had the house at Neugasse 27 rebuilt in 1806 on top of the old ground floor from the 16th century.

Further, original findings, such as wallpaper and wall coverings, were considered. Grisaille paintings with laurel motifs decorate the ceiling. This type of painting is characterized by its grey, white, and black tones and was chosen for the interior decoration of the entire house to give it a consistent look.On the old original front facade plan, five scenes from Greek mythology can be seen, all of which have gold as part of their story: Hephaestus’ Workshop; Jason, Medea and the Golden Fleece; Hercules and the Golden Apples of the Hesperides; Danaë and the Shower of Gold; and the Judgment of Paris.

The royal collection
Our royal collection includes pieces of jewellery from European royal families. Among the displayed selection are treasures of Emperor Franz I of Austria, Queen Victoria, Queen Elena of Italy and the Austro-Habsburg Empress and Hungarian Queen Elisabeth, known as “Sissi”.A special gift was the pendant shown in the image, it dates from around 1890 and includes an integrated medallion and a personal dedication from Empress Sissi. On the inside, a picture of the Empress can be seen. This is very rare because Sissi was very camera-shy. After turning 36, she didn’t allow herself to be photographed.
Our art collection
Our art collection houses jewellery by world-renowned artists, including various creations by the main representative of surrealism, Salvador Dalí, as well as jewellery by Niki de Saint Phalle, Hans Arp and Georges Braque.

The “Ruby Lips” brooch in the image is in 18K gold and was made around 1950 by the jeweller Henryk Kaston in collaboration with Salvador Dalí. Inspired by the lips of the successful actress Mae West (1893–1980), Dalí created this work of art. Back then, West was the epitome of the femme fatale, the daring, self-determined woman with no taboos. Dalí was obsessed with her and her beauty. However, he did not gift the finished brooch to her, but to his faithful wife Gala.
